The Pandemic really lead to a wave of people getting into racing simulation at home! Awesome to see a fair share of them have gone for D-BOX as well!
BLOG Talk!
This is just for me personally and maybe a few others: But I might give it a go if you can do a setup video on how to use a home theater D-Box chair as a gaming chair/sim chair as well.
What is all needed outside of the Chair with actuators and ACM?
PC Software setup?
How to connect the chair to the PC?
Things like this.
Q: With what you now know, what would make YOU get your hands on a D-BOX haptic system?
A: Despite the most obvious answer of the price I think one of the biggest obstacles will be room/space. This is why I have been pondering on the best way to utilize my home theater chairs for Sim Racing/VR. With the introduction of the Jaymar line, I think there is a great opportunity to bring gaming accessories to this line. In addition, haptic sync with modern gaming consoles would open this venture to a much larger world of gamers.
I used to own a racing rig back in the day which had a racing seat, steering wheel, pedals and shift stick. I regret not ever implementing D-BOX with it as that would have taken the immersion to the next level. Should have never sold it…
I’m curious how this is set-up. Videos online would be super helpful.
Anthony, If you already have a movie setup it very easy.
The KAI dongle that plugs into your HEMC gets unplugged and the USB then plugged into a laptop or gaming PC. On that PC download the free “motion core” and buy a game on the list from something like a Steam account. I use a simple PS3 game remote to play games off my laptop onto my 85" screen from my movie chair. Nothing else needed because you have most of it already.
Very insightful, Thank you Brandon! We are aware of these points and it’s reassuring to see our audience is aligned with us!
We’re working on… things
If you go to our youtube channel, we have a few tutorial videos, however we are aware that more would be needed to cover our entire library of products and their many possible configurations!
Cheers,
I really like tutorial videos as it’s like having a virtual instructor while I’m working on a project.
I have a movie setup already and I’m excited to hear that it is actually possible to use it for gaming. I always thought I would have to buy a completely separate system for this. As mentioned above by Brandon, having the extra space for a dedicated set up is a prohibitive factor. I would go for it if I had step by step instructions or video tutorials as suggested by Tim.
Being able to use D-Box with modern gaming consoles??!! I’m in!
I already own 2 d-box home seats but would be nice if xbox series x or playstation 5 games would also be supported by an app for this platform
You are one of many fans that have been requesting a console compatibility feature! Be sure that we have heard you and are working hard on making it happen! The difference in software and accessibility from PC make it harder but we are on it!
Can’t wait to try / participate in a beta test if available. Are we talking about weeks, months or… A little peek in a possible time frame?
I’m not sure- but I think there are a couple other simulator software systems out there which either don’t support D-Box sims at all- or don’t without significant price. I’d love to see D-Box partner with these other systems to bring the software/support to D-Box owners without having to go through so much on their own.
Again, we are all very glad about all the excitement but I cannot give any indications on the timeline as we simply do not know just yet, these partnership with major brands take time and we want to ensure we do it right!
